::Human Inter-face The Human Inter-face, or, HI, as I like to call it, came from an idea I had while putting the final touches on the Rev. 2 mods on BlueIce. I had placed a random desktop picture on the 5-inch LCD screen I had installed and looking at it closely it struck me. Why not have a third party application or even a OS level enhancement of a living/animated face that could communicate with the user. The technology exists today to make a 3D human animated and feedback app. with "little" effort. It could be skinable or even customizable with personal faces much like the cyberextruder technology, http://www.cyberextruder.com/The face would work much like the voice recognition built into Mac OS only the face would be animated and could move slightly as in noding. You could also have personality or expression sets for the face and voice inflection, for example, a formal set for the office, a casual set for home and a humor set for the kids. If HI was built into the system core like Mac OS X you could have it alert you audibly or text messages for important e-mail, weather alerts, calendar/appointment reminders, system statuses, (i.e. hard drive capacities, cpu temp, time, etc.) the lists goes on and on. Of course This would work best if computers would include a small LCD for the face built in or you of course you could have the face in a floating window on your main screen too. I like the idea of having a small monitor embedded in the actual computer for communication and relaying system alerts and statuses to me while leaving my main monitor free for my actual creation/work/play. In a sense it would give computers more of a personality that the user could customize and control while communicating important data in a more human/comfortable/personal way. And if you wanted to get fancy Apple could develop a PDA with a full color 4-5 LCD display that could plug into the front of your desktop system whether you have an iMac or Tower and offer the HI LCD as a detachable LCD/PDA so you could take yer little cyber-buddy with you everywhere. Makes the term "Personal Digital Assistant" way more meaningful don't you think? If I was a little more adept at software development/coding I would jump on this in a heartbeat. So heres a challenge to all you alpha-geeky software developers, I would like/love for you to develop a alpha of HI,( Human Inter-Face), shell or standalone app. for core system communications which could be editable by the user as far as customizing the faces and or voices. It could be a 3D animated display/window along with a brief menu set and user customizable instructions/macros. You could even make it have plug-ins/extensions for other to write specific function into it, the list goes on and on. I can hardly wait to get Jessica Alba in/on my ol BlueIce and ask her how big is my hard drive! :-b |
