CONCEPT OF PYRAMAC
The initial concept for Project Pyramac came to me in the middle of Macworld 2003 in San Francisco.
I wanted to do another mod after BlueIce G4 but wanted to do something different, something I haven't really seen before.
I had an old PowerPC 9600 tower I was thinking of trying to upgrade to a G4 and thought about chroming the case which I thought would really make it look sweet. But after researching some chroming services and getting quotes from $800 to over $1500 I decided to go back to the drawing board.
Most computer mods take the basic case and cut and/or form them slightly, I thought about just making my own case but in a different shape besides the traditional rectangular shaped ones. I had seen cubes and various containers from gas cans to beer kegs but nothing sparked my imagination.
My son was doing a report on the Great Pyramids of Egypt, specifically the Giza Pyramid. I thought hey that's it! I haven't seen a Pyramid shaped computer before, I'll do it. The Pyr-A-Mac was born.
Well I had originally planned on finishing the mod by the end of January 2003, boy did I miss the boat on that one.
